Spelthorne occurs as local government district and borough in Surrey, England. It includes a towns of Ashford, Laleham, Shepperton, Staines, Stanwell and Sunbury. A borough was formed around 1974 from Staines Urban District and Sunbury-on-Thames Urban District. A urban dominion got originally been a share of Middlesex, however inside 1965 when much of the rest of Middlesex was absorbed into Greater London these two were instead transferred to Surrey. A borough remained within a Metropolitan Police District, and was non transferred to Surrey Police until the boundary was realigned to Greater London around 2000. A territorial dominion is known as when an ancient hundred of Middlesex, which covered also East Bedfont, Feltham and Hanworth, all in the London Borough of Hounslow. Spelthorne is twinned by using Melun in France.
